The Plane of Elemental Power

Image
Just like a groupie from the 80s... we followed the rock.  We followed it down into an unknown void.  We're stupid that way. We landed in a cavern filled with powerful elemental essences.  And demons.  Lots and lots of demons.  In fact that's all we fought were Earth, Sun and Flame demons.  And we killed them all. Before I get ahead of myself, let me tell you what we found.  We found, in this noxious space, a Tinkerer.  Yep, just tinkering I guess.  So she joined our fight, figuring safety in numbers I guess, and fight she did!  At one point the Tinkerer took out 3 or 4 demons in one fell swoop!  It was amazing. In the final room I think the demons were surprised to see us because they did not coordinate their efforts at all and ended up being taken apart piecemeal.  Once even the Brute took out two at the same time, but really, that's not a big deal anymore.  The Tinkerer saw to that. After we finished the final dem...

The Story So Far: On the brink of the Elemental Plane of Power

As we stand on the brink of the Elemental Plane of Power let's examine where we've been, and decisions that brought us here as well as our options at this point. We start with a simple job to retrieve some papers from the Black Barrow.  This lead directly to the Barrow Lair.  Here we find those papers and returned them to Jekserah for cash.  All that seemed simple enough.   We also discovered a new site, The Sulfur Mine. While we didn't learn what those papers were, they archaic and mysterious in nature.  Alongside this was a map to "Crypt of the Damned", a telltale sign that this was going to get dark.  Also during this scenario the boss remarked about the "Gloom". At this point we could either keep earning money from Jekserah by storming an Inox Encampment or investigate the Crypt of the Damned. We chose to earn the money from Jekserah and went to the encampment. Considering us useful, Jekserah gave us another job, to go to a Diamond Mine and grab ...

Ruinous Crypt

Following the smell of decay the party continued down the path of rooting out the evil found at the Crypt of the Damned. On the way we stopped a vegetable thief.  Nothing is too small for us to prosecute. As a reward for our good acts and intentions, we were set upon by a rock slide on our way to this newly found crypt and damaged for our efforts. Finally at the crypt we interrupted a Cultist ritual but not before they summoned some Night Demons. The 2nd half of this fight involved more undead living bones as well as Flame Demons and Frost Demons, each representing a flank. This time it was the Scoundrel who took on most of a flank by himself, and well done too. After dispatching these demons we found a portal to well, a different place.  The Mindthief is intrigued, but the other two are a little scared.  We threw a rock in to see what would happen and nothing happened.  Nothing.  No sound.  I have a feeling the Mindthief is going to jump in and, bein...

Crypt of the Damned

Image
As we sat around Gloomhaven the level of excitement waned.  This gave us an idea that we might find excitement in the Crypt of the Damned.  After a trip to the shops we headed out of town. On the way out we saw one of our street urchin acquaintances and stopped to hear what the trouble was.  Apparently he did something wrong, which is to say, he got caught. We paid his fine, swatted him in the back of the head and sent him on his way. We left town feeling good about our destination when we happened upon a strange sight, hundreds of figures created from scrap.  Our first thoughts hinted at what valuables might be hidden among the junk.  As we were looking around a crazy old man came running at us.  After removing his head from his body before he could sneeze on us, we took what we could find and moved on. At the crypt we found what we expected, living bones.  But we also found bandits.  There is something fishy going on here.  Farther into the...

Gloomhaven Warehouse

Image
A triumph! The party (still yet unnamed) became suspicious of Jeksarah and her money.  Not that we care too much, it is money, but we just had to know.  Now we know. On the way to Jekserah's warehouse to learn more about her, we ran into a Vermling with a trade to make.  We left it up to Jonathan, figuring a Vermling would know when to trust another Vermling.  And we learned... NEVER trust a Vermling.  We made the trade and bought garbage for 10gp.  The warehouse was full of undead which we dispatched somewhat quickly.  Maneuvering through the warehouse was as challenging as defeating the bad guys. Ultimately we met Jeksarah along with her body guards.  She high tailed it out a window and left her body guards to die.  Which they did.  Because we dispatched them with extreme prejudice.  And quickly too.  On the final turn the Mindthief forced one to kill the other.  While the first bodyguard was still confused, the Soundrel...
