Temple of the Elements

 The un-named party contemplated their fate.  A demon was afraid of them.  A demon gave them an ultimatum, either fight it and die, or go and recover a powerful artifact.  As a group they decided that they could always die any day, but a powerful artifact would only be available for a limited time.

As they entered the dark temple, they were confronted by a group of cultists who claimed the sale on artifacts had ended.  They summoned some rude living bones and then died by our hands before they could summon more.

Our task was to destroy the evil altars scattered around the temple.  Each was guarded by a different demon, earth, flame, frost and wind.  The brute dispatched the altar guarded by 2 earth demons easy enough followed by the Soundrel giving his all to destroy the altar guarded by 2 flame demons.

Meanwhile the Mindthief was dancing around and headed for the 4th altar.  Before he got there, his greed took over and he opened a chest.  An iron spike lodged itself between two of his ribs for his effort.  His high pitched squeal of pain was terrifying.

The Brute then went and with his last effort destroyed an altar guarded by a frost demon, and then distracted ALL the demons while the Mindthief ducked into the last room to destroy the 4th and final altar.

It was a lot closer than we all would have liked.  In the end we prevailed and the party recovered an artifact, the one the cultists were defending with their lives.  Now the party must decide what to do with it.

Go and fight against evil?  (#36)  Or should they embrace the evil and deliver the artifact toward its intended purpose? (#35)  Again the enchanter might want to take a look (#14/#31)?
